Medicare fund: Helping Children with Autism Program
What is it?
The Helping Children with Autism Program is a program for the early diagnosis and treatment of children with autism or any other pervasive developmental disorder (PDD).
Eligibility
Under the Helping Children with Autism program, a child can be referred by a consultant paediatrician or psychiatrist for the following allied health services:
For a child under the age of 13, up to four diagnostic / assessment services
For a child under the age of 15, providing a treatment and management plan is in place before their 13th birthday, up to twenty treatment services
Once a diagnosis has been confirmed, the paediatrician or psychiatrist will need to provide paperwork to us to enable treatment.
